200 Million iCloud accounts will be factory reset on April 7, 2017″ tweeted by ‘Turkish crime family’
The hacker group who identified themselves as ‘Turkish crime family’ demanded to pay $75000 in bitcoin, Ethereumreum ( another increasingly crypto currently network) or iTunes gift cards worth $100000 in exchange for deleting over 200M Apple icloud accounts
The hackers have also provided video evidence of its claims to the tech website Motherboard, with a demand to apple that it pays the rason or face the consequences
The hackers also uploaded a youtube video of them allegedly logging into some of the stolen icloud accounts. The accounts appears to belong to an elderly woman, which includes backed up photos and ability to remotely wipe the device.
In response to this apple has issued a statement, suggesting that the hackers could be bluffing by using email address that has previously been compromised and leaked on the dark web
“There have not been any breaches in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud and Apple ID,” the Apple statement says.
“The alleged list of email addresses and passwords appears to have been obtained from previously compromised third-party services..
“To protect against these type of attacks, we always recommend that users always use strong passwords, not use those same passwords across sites and turn on two-factor authentication.”
